A dream can be inspired or simply the musings of your own mind. But a vision? A vision is something God places in your spirit that you did not manufacture, and you cannot shake it loose no matter how hard you try. The Scripture says, "*Where there is no vision, the people perish*" (Proverbs 29:18). That word "perish" means to become unrestrained, to be undone, to lose your legislative framework for living. A God-given vision carries weight. It carries responsibility. It carries a timeline. It is bigger than you, and it will outlast you if you birth it correctly.

How do I know if the vision I have is truly from God and not just my own imagination?

Accepted Answer

That is one of the most important questions a visionary can ask, because the enemy is very capable of counterfeiting a vision. Here is what I have learned: a God-given vision will always align with His Word, it will always point people toward Him, it will always meet a need beyond your own benefit, and it will always be bigger than your current capacity to execute it. If you can do it in your own strength, you probably made it up yourself. God's vision requires His provision, His power, and His people working together. The fear and the "how" feeling? That is actually evidence it came from God, because God's vision will always stretch you beyond your comfort zone.

What does it mean for a vision to move from "invisible to visible"?

Accepted Answer

Everything that exists in the natural world first existed in the spirit realm. Before God spoke creation into being, it was already in His mind, His heart, His eternal will. When I talk about vision moving from invisible to visible, I am speaking about that very same process working in your life. The vision already exists, it is settled in heaven. What we are doing is the work of bringing it down to earth. Habakkuk 2:2 says, "*Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.*" The moment you write it, declare it, and begin to take strategic steps toward it, you are pulling it from the invisible realm into the visible. That is why declarations, prayer, strategy, and action are all part of the same process. You are not creating the vision, you are unveiling it.

The Bible says "where there is no vision, the people perish" (Proverbs 29:18). What does that really mean for women today?

It means that without a clear, God-given vision, women become unrestrained, not in the fun, free-spirited way, but in the dangerous way. They drift. They make decisions that are not anchored in purpose. They invest their time, money, and energy into things that do not align with their destiny. I have seen brilliant women, gifted, anointed, educated women, perish in their potential simply because they had no vision to govern their lives. A vision is your legislative framework. It is what you measure every opportunity, every relationship, every decision against. When you do not have it, everything looks equally valid or equally irrelevant. For the women visiting this site right now, I want you to hear me clearly: you cannot afford to live without a vision. Your family cannot afford it. Your community cannot afford it. And this generation cannot afford for you to perish.

Can a woman receive a vision from God even if she doesn't feel spiritually qualified?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely, and I am the testimony. I grew up in a single-parent household. I walked away from God in my early twenties. I was in a broken marriage. I was a single parent with two young daughters. I had shame in places I had not fully dealt with. And yet God spoke to me. He disturbed my sleep. He sent people to prophesy over my life. One of the mothers at my church came to me with a vision from the Lord that I would be teaching groups of women around the world at conferences and events. And my immediate response was, "*How? This is not possible. I am not*" *positioned for this.* But the Lord does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called. The Scripture says He "saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace" (2 Timothy 1:9). Your qualification is His calling. Period.

What is the difference between purpose and vision? Are they the same thing?

Accepted Answer

Purpose and vision are related but they are not the same. Your purpose is the *why*, the overarching reason God placed you on the earth. Vision is the *what and how*, the specific assignment, the mandate, the strategic plan through which your purpose gets expressed in a particular season. For example, my purpose is to bring healing, restoration, and transformation to people and nations. But my vision in this season is expressed through writing, teaching, church leadership, and education. Ten years from now, the expression of that purpose may look different. The vision can evolve. The purpose remains constant. Think of it this way: purpose is the river; vision is the channel through which it flows in this specific time. The first time the word "purpose" appears in the Bible is in Ruth 2:16, *"let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her."* God intentionally drops purpose in your path. Your job is to recognize it and pick it up.

How did you personally come to understand that God had a vision for your life?

It started with restlessness. By 1993, I was a university professor, married, with a home, two cars, and two beautiful daughters. On paper, my life was everything I had worked for. But I could not sleep. I was tossing and turning with no peace. And in that unrest, I heard the voice of the Lord calling me. He began disturbing my sleep and convicting my heart through the Word, no matter where I turned in Scripture, He was speaking directly to me. Then one of the mothers at my home church in England shared a vision that God had given her specifically about me. Then on the first Sunday of January 1994, the elder preached that a storm was coming and our lives would never be the same. I felt like he was talking only to me. I realized that God had been patient with me for years, drawing me back to the plan He had established before the foundation of the world. I could not deny it any longer. That was the beginning of my journey into vision.

What is a "night vision," and why is it important to write down what God speaks to you in dark seasons?

A night vision is what God reveals to you when you are in a dark season, a season of uncertainty, loss, or suffering. It can also literally occur when you are half asleep or at the edge of consciousness. The enemy knows the power of night visions, and the Scripture tells us that it is his assignment to destroy them. In Daniel 2:19–24, Daniel received a night vision that saved a nation. These visions will bring illumination to darkness; they will change the course of history if we receive and act on them. I cannot tell you how many times I thought I would remember a vision in the morning, but when I went back to sleep and woke up, it was gone. Write it down immediately. Keep a journal beside your bed. What God speaks to you at 3 a.m. in your deepest valley may be the very strategy that shifts your life, your family, your ministry, or your city.

What role does the Word of God play in clarifying and confirming a vision?

The Word of God is the plumb line. It is the authority against which every vision must be measured. I describe it this way in my book: the Word of God became a *written authoritative command* to me. It stopped being just a devotional exercise and became a living, breathing, personal directive. Here is what I know for certain, God will never give you a vision that contradicts His written Word. He will use the Word to confirm it, refine it, and sustain you through the process of pursuing it. When I was in my darkest season, it was scriptures like Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future,"* that kept me anchored. The Word does not just clarify your vision, it becomes the atmosphere in which the vision lives and breathes.

Is vision only for church leaders and pastors, or can marketplace women and entrepreneurs carry a God-given vision too?

Accepted Answer

Vision is for everyone who has been breathed into existence by God, and that includes every woman in business, education, healthcare, government, media, arts, and every other sector of society. The seven mountains of cultural influence, church, family, education, politics, media, arts and entertainment, and economy, were identified by Bill Bright and Loren Cunningham in 1975 as the spheres where kingdom visionaries must operate. God is not only raising up church leaders. He is raising up entrepreneurs, professors, politicians, artists, and executives who carry His vision for their industries. If you are a businesswoman, your company is an expression of your kingdom assignment. If you are an educator, your classroom is a sphere of influence. The call to vision is not reserved for the pulpit. It is for every woman who carries the breath of God.

What does FIRST stand for in your book, and why does it matter before birthing a vision? How do I prepare for a vision?

FIRST is the foundational framework of Part One of my book, and it represents the inner work that must happen before a vision can be safely birthed. FIRST stands for: **F** — Forgiveness; **I** — from Baali to Ishi (an identity shift in your relationship with God); **R** — Raising Kingdom Seeds; **S** — Subpoenaed by Heaven; and **T** — The Process. I deliberately address FIRST before vision development because I have seen too many women try to birth something they were not ready to carry. Personal preparation always precedes operation. If you have not dealt with forgiveness, you will birth something with unforgiveness embedded in its foundation. If you have not experienced the Ishi relationship, knowing God as intimate Father rather than distant Master, you will lead from performance rather than love. The FIRST framework is not a theory. It is the roadmap of my own journey.

You talk about being "Subpoenaed by Heaven", what does that mean, and have you ever tried to ignore that call?

Accepted Answer

A subpoena is a legal writ, it is a written, authoritative command to appear. And yes, heaven issues subpoenas. There came a season in my early twenties when the Word of God became exactly that to me. No matter where I turned in Scripture, God was speaking directly to me. I could not escape it. And did I try to ignore it? Absolutely. I made every excuse. I told myself, "God cannot be talking to me, my life is a wreck." I was in the middle of a broken marriage, I was becoming a single parent, and I was carrying shame from choices I had made. But God was not deterred by my excuses. Just like He sent the prophet back to find Elijah under the juniper tree, He kept coming for me. The question is not whether heaven will issue the subpoena. The question is how long you will keep avoiding your court date.

Why is forgiveness the very first step before you can birth a vision?

Accepted Answer

Because an unforgiving heart becomes a contaminated womb. Whatever you birth will carry the DNA of what you have not released. I speak from experience. I carried shame and unforgiveness toward myself for years, I knew God had forgiven me, and others had forgiven me, but I had not forgiven myself. And that unresolved shame created barriers to me walking fully into my calling. The Scripture says in Luke 22:31–32 that Jesus prayed specifically for Peter, not that he would not fail, but that his faith would not fail and that when he was converted, he would strengthen others. The Lord showed me through Peter that He sees past our failures into our destiny. But to get there, we have to take our foot out of the door of the past. Forgiveness, of others, and of yourself, is not weakness. It is the prerequisite for the visionary life.

What is the difference between knowing God as Baali (Master) versus Ishi (Husband), and how did that shift change your life?

Accepted Answer

Baali and Ishi come from Hosea 2, and they represent two very different relational postures toward God. Baali means "my master”, it is a relationship driven by obligation, performance, and fear. Ishi means "my husband", it is a relationship of intimacy, trust, covenant, and love. When I was serving God as Baali, I was working for His approval. I was doing all the right things but from the wrong place. The shift to Ishi changed everything. I stopped trying to earn my calling and started resting in it. I stopped leading from a deficit and started leading from abundance. When you know God as Ishi, as your covenant partner, not just your authority figure, you birth from love instead of obligation. And everything you birth from love carries a life that things birthed from fear simply cannot sustain.

What are "Kingdom Seeds," and how do we raise them properly, so they don't die before they grow?

Accepted Answer

Kingdom seeds are the people, the ideas, the assignments, and the resources that God places in your care to steward and develop for the advancement of His kingdom. They can be your children, your spiritual sons and daughters, your team members, your business ideas, or the communities you are called to serve. Raising kingdom seeds properly requires three things: covering, cultivation, and patience. Covering means creating a safe, spiritually aligned environment where seeds can grow without being exposed prematurely to the elements. Cultivation means investing in them, pouring in prayer, teaching, mentorship, and resources. And patience means understanding that seeds have a germination period that you cannot rush. John 12:24 says, "*Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone.*" The death season is not failure, it is preparation. The seed that refuses to be buried will never multiply.

How does unresolved pain, like abandonment or rejection, block the birthing of a vision?

Accepted Answer

I can answer this from the inside out. Abandonment was my main hindrance in developing a vision. My father walked away from our family when I was nine years old, and the wound that created in me showed up decades later in how I led. Abandonment leaves you wounded at the soul level. It tears at your very core. It produces specific patterns that sabotage your vision: the inability to trust others, suspicion, the spirit of manipulation, shame and despondency, fear of rejection, loneliness and isolation, and codependency. When these things are operating in you, you will struggle to build teams, delegate authority, trust partners, or sustain a vision through opposition. You will withdraw when things get hard. You will sabotage your own destiny because you do not feel worthy of what God is saying about your life. Healing is not optional for a visionary, it is strategic.

You share deeply from your own story of brokenness and single parenthood; how did you keep going when the vision seemed impossible?

Accepted Answer

The honest answer is that I did not always keep going with grace. There were seasons when I went back to bed and pulled the covers over my head. But what kept me moving was a combination of the Word, community, and the call I could not silence. By the end of 1994, I was a single parent. That same year, my pastor called me to work with the administrative team at the church. I remember thinking, "Why would he want me? I have nothing to offer." But I showed up. And it was in those weekly meetings, sitting at his feet, paying bills, gleaning wisdom, that the Lord began to reveal my purpose and develop my identity. He saw in me what I did not see in myself. That is the message I want every woman in difficult circumstances to hear: your current location is not your final destination. The path through your pain is often the path to your purpose.

What does it mean to have a "wilderness experience" like Moses, and why is the wilderness necessary before the vision fully unfolds?

Accepted Answer

Moses spent forty years in the wilderness after fleeing Egypt, but those forty years were not wasted years. They were formation years. In the wilderness, Moses was stripped of his palace identity, his Egyptian education, and his self-reliance. He became a shepherd, someone who learned to tend, to lead without fanfare, to be faithful in small things. And it was in that wilderness, tending to ordinary sheep, that God appeared in the burning bush and gave him the most extraordinary assignment in Israel's history. Your wilderness is your formation. It is where God removes what is not of Him, develops what is, and matures you for the weight of the vision. The wilderness is not a punishment, it is preparation. And like Moses, the very skills and experiences you gain in your wilderness become the tools God uses in your assignment.

You say "process leads to purpose", what is the difference between going through a process and being processed?

Accepted Answer

Going through a process means you are in the circumstance, but you are fighting it, resisting it, or simply trying to survive it. Being processed means you are yielding to what God is doing in that circumstance, you are allowing it to produce something in your character, your faith, your wisdom. A lot of women go through processes. Very few allow themselves to be processed. The difference shows up in leadership. Leaders who have been processed, not just tested but transformed, lead with depth, with empathy, with wisdom that cannot be taught in a classroom. They lead from healed places. Leaders who merely survived their processes without being transformed tend to lead from their wounds, projecting their unhealed pain onto the people around them. I had to learn to embrace the process, not just endure it. Philippians 2:12–13 says it is *"God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."* Let Him work.

What was your lowest point as a visionary, and how did you survive it without giving up?

Accepted Answer

There were several "lowest points," and I say that with full transparency because I believe the transparency of my story is the point. Being a pastor in a rural area, leading a church from inception, being a single parent, navigating betrayal from people I trusted within the vision, all of those converged at different moments. But perhaps the deepest valley was the season when I felt like everything I had worked for and believed for was crumbling simultaneously, family, ministry, finances, health. I survived it by doing what Elijah did after his lowest point, I let the angel of the Lord feed me. Rest. Nourishment. The Presence of God. I also had to deal honestly with what was in me, the abandonment wound, the fear of rejection, so that those things would stop fueling my decisions. And I held onto the word the Lord had spoken over my life when I had nothing else to hold on to.

How do you move from a place of shame, especially after public failure, into confidently walking in your calling?

Accepted Answer

First, you have to understand what shame actually is. Shame says, *"I am what I did."* Conviction says, *"I did something wrong but I am not that thing."* The enemy uses shame to lock you in your past and keep you from your future. I know this personally. I carried shame about choices I made as a young woman, and even though the Lord had forgiven me, even though others had forgiven me, I had not forgiven myself. And that shame became a ceiling on my destiny. The shift came when I truly internalized that *"the shame of the past was overshadowing the promise of my future."* The Scripture says in Psalms 27:10, *"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the* *LORD* will take me up." God did not see me through the lens of my failures. He saw me through the lens of His purpose. Once you begin to see yourself through His eyes, shame loses its power.

What does the scripture "except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die" (John 12:24) teach us about vision birthing?

Accepted Answer

It teaches us that multiplication requires burial. The seed that stays above ground, kept safe and protected from all discomfort, remains alone. One seed. No harvest. But when the seed is buried — when it goes through darkness, pressure, and a seeming death, it produces a harvest that the original single seed could never have accomplished by itself. This is the paradox of the visionary life. The very things that feel like the death of your vision are often the conditions required for it to multiply. The job loss that pushes you into your assignment. The broken relationship that frees you to serve your true community. The failure that teaches you what success alone never could. I tell women this all the time: do not grieve your burial seasons. The ground that feels like your grave is actually your garden.

What does "Purpose of Heart" mean, and why must your heart be positioned correctly before God releases a vision to you?

Accepted Answer

In the book of Daniel, the word "purpose" in its Hebrew root in Ruth 2:16 means to drop, to strip, to plunder, to cause something to fall so that it becomes available for another. The purpose of your heart will often be the determining factor of whether the Lord releases a vision to you. God will not trust His heart and mind to just any heart. He looks for a heart that is genuinely postured toward His kingdom, not toward personal fame, personal vindication, or personal comfort. He looks for the showbread heart, like the bread of the Presence in the Temple, the loaves were kneaded outside of the courtyard, they stayed in the Presence, and they were broken and given to others. That is the posture God requires of a visionary: processed outside the comfortable places, sustained in His Presence, and willing to be broken for the benefit of others.

You discuss Daniel's gifting, which qualities do you think women most struggle to develop, and why?

Accepted Answer

Daniel 1:4 gives us a profile of what a visionary looks like: no blemish, well-favored, skillful in wisdom, cunning in knowledge, understanding science, and having ability to stand before kings. The Hebrew unpacks those qualities even further, *madda* means knowledge and science; *skal cepher* means to be an expert teacher; *chokmah* means wisdom in mind, word, and act; and *biyn* means the ability to separate thoughts, to discern, to be eloquent. From my experience as a professor and a pastor, the quality that women most struggle to develop is *biyn*, the discernment to separate, to make sound distinctions, to say yes to some things and no to others. Women are natural nurturers, and that same gift can become a liability if it is not tempered with discernment. We often say yes when God is saying not yet. We tolerate what we should discern. Discernment is the upgrade every visionary needs.

Question 25

How important is personal preparation before you can publicly launch a vision?

Accepted Answer

It is non-negotiable. I say it plainly in my book: *personal preparation will precede operation*. You can market a vision before it is ready, build a platform on an unhealed foundation, and launch with great fanfare, but without personal preparation, what you birth will be fragile and what you build will be vulnerable. Moses spent forty years in preparation before God sent him to Pharaoh. David was anointed king as a teenager but did not sit on the throne for years. Jesus Himself spent thirty years in preparation before three years of public ministry. Every major visionary in Scripture had a significant preparation season. The problem is that we live in a culture that celebrates the launch and ignores the preparation. I want women to understand that the years you spend developing your character, your theology, your craft, your healing, those are not wasted years. Those are your investment years.

What does it mean to be "Designed, Intentional, Relevant, On Point, and Precise" as a visionary?

Accepted Answer

These five words came to me as the Lord was speaking to me about my calling, and I hold them as a personal declaration. *Designed* means that you are not an accident or an afterthought, you were architecturally planned by God for a specific purpose before the foundation of the world. *Intentional* means that nothing about your journey has been random, even your pain has been purposeful. *Relevant* means that you are specifically equipped for this moment in history, not another era, this one. *On Point* means that you are aligned with the Lord's target, you are not off course, even when it feels that way. And *Precise* or *Targeted* means that there is a specific community, problem, or need that your vision is designed to address, you are not a general solution; you are a precision instrument in the hand of God. When you walk in all five, you are unstoppable.

Question 27

How do you guard against the spirits of Jezebel, Ahab, Athaliah or evil spirits that come to steal, kill, or sabotage your vision?

Accepted Answer

In my book I prepared a chart on these three spirits because it is essential for every visionary to know their enemy. The spirit of Jezebel promotes perverse worship, operates through manipulation, control, intimidation, and stagnation. It operates in false prophecy and promotes fear, discouragement, and rebellion against the Word of God. The spirit of Ahab is characterized by weak character, covetousness, and fear of rejection, it enables Jezebel and fails to confront what it should confront. The spirit of Athaliah is the seed killer and dream destroyer, it attacks the generations and their generational inheritance. The way you guard against all three is the same: walk in repentance and true worship, stand on the promises of God, operate in spiritual rank and fortitude, be courageous, maintain legitimate authority structures, and, critically, close the doors to your wounds. Unhealed wounds are open doors for these spirits.

What role does confidence play in vision development, and how does a woman rebuild confidence after failure?

Accepted Answer

Confidence is not arrogance, it is the fruit of knowing who God says you are and acting accordingly. I learned something sobering: a lack of confidence is often a sign of unrepentance or unforgiveness. When we truly receive the forgiveness of God and forgive ourselves, confidence is the natural result. It is hard to be bold when you are still walking in shame. Confidence comes through deliverance, through spiritual exploits, and through conquest, small victories that compound into a settled assurance. For women rebuilding after failure, I say: start small and stay faithful. Let God give you a small win. Do the next thing He asks. The Scripture says cast not away your confidence, which has great recompense of reward (Hebrews 10:35). Confidence is worth protecting. And it is rebuilt one obedient step at a time.

Why is it dangerous to have a vision without the understanding and wisdom to steward it correctly?

Accepted Answer

Because you can have a genuine vision from God and still destroy it through poor stewardship. In Daniel, the king had a vision, a genuine dream, but when he tried to operate without the wisdom to interpret it, he threatened to destroy everyone around him. The Scripture says it is dangerous to have visions and dreams without understanding. Wisdom (*chokmah*) is the ability to be wise in mind, word, and act. Understanding (*biyn*) is the ability to discern and separate. Without them, you will misinterpret timing, misidentify allies and enemies, move in the wrong season, and potentially harm the very people your vision is meant to help. I always say: God gives the vision, but wisdom governs its execution. Prayer, mentorship, study, and community accountability are all part of how we develop the wisdom to steward what God has entrusted to us.

How does a woman know when she is truly ready to step out and launch her vision?

Accepted Answer

You are ready when you know your assignment, you have counted the cost, and you have done the internal work. You are ready when you have a clear sense of what need the vision addresses, who it serves, and what resources are required. You are ready when you can take opposition without collapsing — when you have developed enough spiritual and emotional resilience to sustain the vision through challenge. And you are ready when God opens a door that no man can shut and provides a divine confirmation that the season has shifted. I do not believe in launching before God opens the door, and I do not believe in waiting forever when God has clearly said *now*. The key is to be in His timing. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a time and a season for every purpose under heaven. Your preparation season has an expiration date. When God says go, you go.

You talk about "holy alliances", what are they, and how do wrong relationships slow or kill a vision?

Accepted Answer

Holy alliances are the God-ordained, covenant-based relationships and partnerships that are designed to support and advance a specific vision. They are not just networking contacts or people you like. They are the people God assigns to the vision who carry the right anointing, the right skills, the right spirit, and the right timing to be involved. In the Brilliant Business Model chapter, I write about this extensively, who we are connected to and intimate with will determine what we birth. Wrong relationships, people who carry a Jezebel, Ahab, or Athaliah spirit, or people simply not assigned to your vision, will drain resources, create confusion, produce strife, and open doors to the enemy. The difficulty is discerning between long-term and short-term relationships. Some people are assigned for a season. Wisdom knows the difference and releases them gracefully when that season ends.

How did your experience as a university professor, international traveler, and pastor collectively prepare you for your kingdom assignment?

Accepted Answer

This is one of my favorite questions because it shows how nothing is wasted in God's economy. My ten years as a university professor in social work and sociology developed three core capacities in me: research (which taught me to seek truth, validate information, and teach with accuracy), leadership development (which taught me how to develop and raise up others with patience and compassion), and intercession for nations (because traveling to Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Finland, and the United States as an international liaison taught me to pray for nations in my hotel room with nothing but a hungry heart and the Holy Ghost). Every experience, every degree, every cross-cultural encounter became preparation for the global teaching and leadership assignment I carry today. Like the Apostle Peter, whose fishing skills, discipline, and boldness were necessary for his ministry assignment, every season of your secular life is curriculum for your kingdom calling.

What do you say to a woman who feels she is "too broken" or "too far gone" for God to use her?

Accepted Answer

I say: that is the lie of the enemy, and I have lived on the other side of that lie. I was a woman who had walked away from God, made choices I was ashamed of, experienced a broken marriage, became a single parent, and questioned whether God could ever truly use someone like me. And God chose that exact woman, that broken, ashamed, questioning woman, to plant a church, write a book, teach in universities, and stand before women across nations. The Scripture says, *"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future"* (Jeremiah 29:11). That word was not written for the put-together woman who has never failed. It was written for the woman in captivity, in Babylon, at her lowest point.
